DJ30 Bounces From Trend Support: 52,450 Reclaim Could Pull Price Into the 52,700 Gap
DJ30 Bounces From Trend Support: 52,450 Reclaim Could Pull Price Into the 52,700 Gap
georg
The Dow Jones is trying to recover after a sharp intraday selloff knocked the index away from the 53,000 region. What makes the current setup interesting is where buyers stepped back in: price reacted directly from rising trend support on the 1-hour chart, while the 30-minute timeframe is attempting to recover around a rising 200-period moving average. If DJ30 can reclaim 52,450, the imbalance left by the selloff could attract price back toward 52,700.
DJ30 1-Hour Chart Analysis
The broader 1-hour structure remains constructive despite the latest correction.
DJ30 has been moving higher throughout October, with a clear sequence of higher swing lows developing along a rising trendline. The latest decline from the 53,000 area was aggressive, but it stopped almost exactly where that trendline came into play around the 52,200–52,300 region.
The reaction from this area is important. Rather than extending immediately into a deeper breakdown, price produced a quick rebound and has already recovered back toward 52,400. The recent low was also marked by the Fractals indicator, reinforcing the area as a meaningful short-term swing point.
The selloff itself left behind a clear fair value gap above current price, beginning around 52,450 and extending toward the upper 52,700s. That imbalance now becomes the obvious technical area to watch if buyers continue to regain control.
The first hurdle is 52,450. Price is currently trading just beneath this level, so a sustained move back above it would place DJ30 directly inside the FVG and increase the probability of further recovery.
The CCI (14) is also beginning to improve. The indicator currently stands near -39.55, having recovered from much weaker readings during the selloff. CCI remains below the zero line, so bullish momentum is not fully established yet, but the rebound away from oversold territory suggests that bearish pressure is fading.
If price follows that momentum improvement with a break above 52,450, the next key objective becomes 52,700, where the upper portion of the imbalance and previous price structure converge.
Key Levels:
52,200–52,300: Rising trendline support and recent swing-low region.
52,450: Immediate resistance and lower boundary of the fair value gap.
52,700: Main recovery target inside the imbalance.
53,000: Major recent high and higher resistance if bullish momentum extends.
DJ30 30-Minute Chart Analysis
The 30-minute chart adds another layer of confirmation to the recovery attempt.
The sharp drop from the 53,000 area pushed DJ30 below its 200-period moving average, but sellers were unable to maintain control beneath it for long. Price has since rebounded strongly and is now testing the average again around the 52,400–52,450 region.
The 200-MA itself is still sloping higher, which matters. A rising long-term average suggests that the broader intraday trend has not fully rolled over despite the recent volatility. Reclaiming and holding above it would strengthen the case that the selloff was corrective rather than the beginning of a larger bearish reversal.
The recent low also produced a visible fractal swing point near the bottom of the decline, followed by several bullish candles that carried price back toward the moving average. This shows that buyers responded quickly once price reached the 52,200 area.
The same fair value gap between roughly 52,450 and 52,750 is even clearer on the 30-minute chart. Because the imbalance was created by a fast displacement lower, a recovery above its lower boundary could encourage price to retrace deeper into the inefficiently traded zone.
That makes 52,450 the level that really matters in the short term.
A clean break and sustained hold above this level would place price back above the 200-MA and inside the FVG, creating room for a move toward 52,700.
DJ30 Bullish Recovery Scenario
The two intraday timeframes are beginning to tell the same story.
On the 1-hour chart, DJ30 has bounced from a rising trendline and CCI is recovering from bearish extremes. On the 30-minute chart, price is trying to reclaim a rising 200-period moving average after a sharp but short-lived breakdown.
The missing piece is 52,450.
A sustained move above this level would put DJ30 back inside the fair value gap and strengthen the case for a continuation toward 52,700. If buyers can work through the imbalance completely, the recent 53,000 high would come back into view.
For now, the bounce is promising, but the recovery becomes much more convincing only once 52,450 is reclaimed.
